UP DGP removed for disobeying Government orders

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Government removed DGP Mukul Goel on Wednesday from his post on the allegations of disobeying the orders and posted him as DGP Civil Defence Department. UP Government in a statement said that the Government appointed Prasanth Kumar, ADGP as new DGP of UP.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was unhappy with his performance. Last month he skipped a key meeting with the Chief Minister on the law and order situation in the State. A 1987 batch IPS officer, Mukul Goel had taken over as the State DGP in July 2021. He had earlier worked as SP/SSP in Almora, Jalaun, Mainpuri, Hathras, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Saharanpur and Meerut districts. He was also posted in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the National Disaster Response Force.
