Chennai: TVK Chief Vijay’s swear-in ceremony as CM was not confirmed, as he desired to take oath on Saturday. The Tamil Nadu Governor RV Arlekar not permitted him to take oath as CM to show his strength to form the Government with 118 MLAs.
Vijay’s TVK party won 108 seats in the assembly elections, due to his winning in two assembly segments, the TVK’s MLAs are 107. To form a Government Vijay needs the support of 11 MLAs. But he got support of 5 MLAs from Congress, 4 MLAs from CPI (2) and CPM (2) and another party VCK acknowledged their support to Vijay on Friday, but VCK has not given the letter of support to the Governor.
For this reason Governor has not permission for TVK Chief Vijay to take oath on Saturday at Nehru Indoor Stadium. Finally VCK endorsed their support to Vijay through e-mail to TVK on Friday midnight. Now Vijay have full strength to form Government with 118 MLAs in Tamil Nadu. The Governor may allow Vijay after verifying the support letters of the other parties.
If Governor gives nod to Vijay to form Government today, he will take oath on Saturday evening. TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK wrote to the Governor, saying AIADMK must be allowed to form the Government.
