BJP record won in Gujarat: Congress in Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: BJP won a landslide victory in Gujarat by winning 156 seats out of 182 in Gujarat Assembly elections. The BJP has not lost in Gujarat since 1995. Remarkably, the party has not faced anti-incumbency in its 27-year rule. In Himachal Pradesh Congress won 40 seats out of 68 seats in Himachal Assembly elections.

AAP of Aravind Kejriwal celebrated the silver lining after a disappointing show by winning five seats in Gujarat and zero seats in Himachal Pradesh its national party status because of the Gujarat vote share. Bhupendra Patel, who took over as Chief Minister a year ago, will be sworn in for a second term on December 12th. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said Bhupendra Patel would return as Chief Minister if the BJP won again.

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress won 40 seats, a comfortable majority, with the BJP at 25. AAP didn’t win a single seat.
