Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases: April 19th to June 1st: CEC

New Delhi: The Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections – 2024 on Saturday. The polls will be held in 7 phases, beginning from April 19th and ending on June 1st. The results will be declared on June 4th.

CEC in a press conference at Election Commission office said that no simultaneous polls will be held.

Four States Assembly elections also held along with Lok Sabha elections – 2024. The four States are Andhra Pradesh and Odisha State Assembly election will be held on May 13th, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly election will be held on April 19th. The CEC will combat towards the 4Ms (muscle, money, misinformation, and MCC violations) that hinder the path to free and fair elections.

CEC said that the country will go for general elections around 97 crore people. The voters older than 85 years of age will be allowed to vote from home, he said. He also said that minimum basic facilities like drinking water and toilets will be made available at all polling booths. The tenure of the present Lok Sabha ends on June 16 and a new House will have to be constituted before that. The tenure of the four state assemblies will also end in June.

The total number of 543 Lok Sabha seats will go polls in seven phases from April 19th to June 1st. The phase wise Lok Sabha dates are i.e., 1. April 19, 2. April 26, 3.May 7, 4.May 13, 5. May 20, 6. May 25 and 7. June 1

              In first phase polls will be held on 19th of April for a total of 21 states and union territories. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Union territories A&N island, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, DDN& H, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, HP, Haryana, Ladakh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Punjab, Uttarakhand to go to polls on Phase 1. Number of constituencies -102

In second phase 13 states to go to polls, number of constituencies – 89. In third phase 12 states to go to polls in 94 constituencies. In fourth phase 10 states to go polls in 96 constituencies. In fifth phase 8 states to go to polls in 49 constituencies. In sixth phase 7 states to go to polls in 57 constituencies. In seventh phase 8 states to go to polls in 57 constituencies.
