New Delhi: According to an IMD bulletin heat wave conditions over North-West India, central India and adjoining interior parts of Eastern-India or very likely to continue to prevail mainly during the next two days. Isolated severe heat wave conditions with heat wave at many places are very likely over Vidharbha during May 26, 27. Heat wave conditions at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi West UP, East Rajasthan and MP and at isolated places over Punjab, and East UP on May 27, said IMD.

However under the influence of a western disturbance and an east-west trough in the lower levels and likely rain or thunder storm from May 28 and 29, the maximum temperatures over north Indian flights are likely to recede from 28 May onwards.

Severe heat wave conditions gripped many parts of North India, with Delhi experiencing its hottest day in May on Tuesday in 18 years as super hot winds continued to pump into the region from the North West ever since cyclone Amphan hit Bengal.

North India was the warmest region of the world on Tuesday (26.05.2020). Churu in Rajasthan hit 50o degrees C becoming the world’s hottest spot of the day along with Jacobabad in Pakistan, also at 50o degrees, according to the EL Dorado website that tracks global temperature.

The temperature gauge at Delhi’s Safdarjung, consider the base for the capital touched 46o Degree C, six notches above normal, equaling the level reached in May 2002. Higher temperature than this was last recorded in May 29, 1998, when the mercury hit 46.5o degree C, the all time record in Safdarjung for May is 47.2o degree C, recorded on May 29, 1944.
