New Delhi: The Covid- 19 cases in the country crossing the 50K mark on Wednesday overall and breaching the 3K figure in its daily tally for the first time. The country recorded 3, 602 new Covid- 19 cases is the biggest in a day since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The total number of +ve cases in the country rose to 52, 935 on Wednesday. Alarmingly while it took five days to cover the distance from 30K mark to the 40K mark, the next 10K cases in the country were added in just three days. It was on May 3 that India had topped 40K cases while the 30K mark was breached on April 28^th. The death toll recorded 93 in the country on Wednesday, was less than half of the 199 causalities that were recorded across the country on Tuesday.

Maharashtra recorded 1, 233 fresh cases taking the total to 16, 758. Maharashtra reported 34 deaths on Wednesday and reached the toll to 651. Delhi recorded a maximum number of cases in a day at 428 taking the total number of Covid- 19 cases to 5, 532, with one more death. The death toll in New Delhi reached upto 65.
