Charanjit Singh Channi is going to swear in as Punjab Chief Minister

Chandigarh: Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi (58) is going to swear as the new Chief Minister of the State at 11 am on Monday. Punjab CLP elected him as the new CLP leader on Sunday and informed the same to the Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Charanjit Channi was elected as MLA thrice from Rupnagar’s Chamkaur Sahib. The Congress hopes his deputies will be from the Jat Sikh and Hindu communities, the party’s State Incharge, said Harish Rawat.

General elections in Punjab are going to held in 2022, the Congress took a Dalit card to compete with other political rivals to grab the Dalit votes which are having 31% vote share in the State. Rahul Gandhi also offered his congratulations, and reminded Channi of the task at hand to fulfill promises made to the people of Punjab.
