T-Government defer the High Court Judgement on SSC exams

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government decided to postpone the SSC examinations which were scheduled in March 2020, stopped due to Covid- 19 lock down. The Telangana Government deferred Telangana High Court’s decision on conducting the SSC examination in the state, after 48 hours of the Judgement.

The High Court in its order said that except GHMC and Rangareddy district and the rest of districts go for exams. The Telangana Government on Saturday night to defer the school leaving examination across the state. The SSC exams were first postponed in March following the High Court’s intervention after the students appeared for the first and second language exams. According the decision the Education Minister Sabita Indira Reddy said that the strategy to be followed when it comes to SSC exams will be placed in a meeting with Chief Minister and a decision will be announced.

Earlier in the day, the High Court bench made it clear that lives of the children were more precious than their careers and directed the Government not to conduct SSC exams in GHMC (Hyderabad and Secunderabad and parts of Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Medchal districts) areas Covid- 19 is spreading wide and fast.

The High Court Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy said that the Court however allowed the Government to go ahead with the exams in the rest of the state after taking due precautions and reviewing the situation every week.

The Telangana State Government stood cancels the SSC exams instead of postponing them incessantly urged parents of the students who are forced to travel from the other states and district to appear for the exams. The demand came in the backdrop of the exams getting postponed again after the High Court directed the State Government to reschedule them inview of Covid-19. The parents who are staying at other states and districts said that it is not fair on the State’s part to take such last minute decisions.
